March Meetup!

Bocoup Loft (map)

Selected By: K. Adam White

We got out-maneuvered for February meeting space, but we're working on a challenge to keep you busy in the meantime. Keep on modeling, we'll see you in March!

Hey K. Adam, is there a way to remove the "new location" from the address?

Do we have an agenda yet?

@Dave - The agenda I'd put together fell through this past week, we're working to get an alternative in place.

I have one question for discussion. I've lost the reference to it, but there is supposed to be a Blender plugin to use a server at Amazon for rendering. I think Amazon had a fairly generous free trial for it. Does anyone know about and has anyone used it?

What are the parking options near Bocoup Loft? The map I'm looking at shows some insanely spacious lots, but are those available for us at meeting time?

I can bring an extra 3D mouse (SpaceMouse Pro) if anyone is interested in trying it out. It's especially useful if your laptop keyboard lacks a standard numpad.

Mike, I'll play with it ! I've been looking at 3dConnexion for a while now, but still didn't try it in real.

Mike, I don't drive so I'm not sure what the parking is like, but I'll follow up and get back to you.

If anyone is interested, I could show how I use Google SketchUp with Blender in my daily workflow. Here's what I'm thinking? Sketchup - brief sketch up overview - since this is a Blender Meetup - export options from sketchUp - Pro vs Free versions? Blender - Import meshes from other programs - Imported mesh optimizing/cleanup - Material/Node set up for Cycle Rendering Engine

Bill, that would be great! I'd like to see how you use blender with sketchup.

Mike - Bocoup recommends the VPNE garage, as linked from here: http://loft.bocoup.com/

Spacemouse! Sketchup! This is going to be pretty cool.

I'll also bring my tablet (graphire3, so only pressure sensitivity) to the party in case people want to give that a try with Blender/Gimp/Mypaint. I'd also be interested to see how tablet-spacemouse sculpting feels, if we have time.

I thought this was a very solid meetup: we had a diverse range of presentations, and everybody who volunteered to demo knew their topic well and demonstrated what they had to show in an interesting and succinct manner.

I learned a lot and have been able to try out some of the ideas shared.

Needs to be a little longer, possibly start earlier to allow for some mingling? It's obvious by the side chatter that people were interested in an assortment of related issues.

An inspiring meeting. I was blown away by the presentations. The atmosphere was very open and welcoming. I liked the round table approach, Adam's style, and the amazing expertise of the participants. I look forward very much to future meetups and to the further growth of the Blender Meetup.

A pretty educational meeting. We had demonstrations of various peripheries, in the forms of both software and hardware. People also shared various tips, tricks, and shortcuts for doing various things in blender itself. From a quick poll, it seemed like everyone learned at least one new thing this meeting, which is exactly what we want happening.
